Bobi Foils Lutammaguzi’s Power Grab Plot

In a bold move, the National Unity Platform President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has thwarted a power grab attempt by Nakaseke South MP, Paul Luttamaguzi Ssemakula, who had singly organized and presided over irregular elections to install himself as NUP chairperson in Nakaseke district.

The move, widely seen as a blatant disregard for NUP’s strongman Bobi’s proclamations and as a scheme for motor-mouthed Lutamaguzi to maintain his MP position he has held since 2016, has been nullified by Bobi through his confidants, dealing a significant blow to Luttamuguzi’s ambition.

The NUP party president has consistently stated that those seeking to join the party as a “means to gain or keep positions are not welcome, as the party prioritizes the struggle to remove Museveni from power over personal ambitions.”

To foil a sinister plot by a Democratic Party (DP) member Luttamaguzi, a meeting was held at NUP headquarters on August 28, 2024, chaired by Faridah Nabatanzi and Rovans Alex Lwanyango, and processed invalidation of sham Luttamaguzi-led elections.

In response to Luttamaguzi’s actions, the NUP has appointed an interim leadership to oversee Kunga mobilization activities in Nakaseke. The interim team, led by Fredrick Kakooza, will manage party affairs until a new leadership election can be organized in the next two weeks.

The party leadership has called on all members to support the interim team and adhere to the upcoming guidelines to ensure a smooth and lawful transition in leadership. The move aims to stabilize the situation and ensure compliance with party regulations.

Luttamaguzi’s actions have been widely condemned by local NUP leaders, including Fredrick Kakooza, who described the elections as illegal. Samuel Byekwaso, the Nakaseke NUP District Registrar, also echoed these concerns, stating that he was unaware of the elections until they were already underway.

It is not yet clear, what Luttamaguzi, unending talker of anything to do with populism politics will do as a remedy to the flop of his power grab.
