Bobi Rekindles Evil Plan To Harm Buganda Kingdom

The National Unity Platform (NUP) leader  Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has restarted his evil plan to “harm and belittle” the Buganda Kingdom after recruiting disgruntled individuals led by Ex-Katikkiro Dan Muliika to further his selfish political agenda.

Undermining Kingdom Officials: Bobi Accused Of Targeting To Isolate, Weaken Kabaka

This move comes after many thought NUP had abandoned its plans following powerful speeches by King Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga on July 31st, 2024 during the 31st coronation ceremony at Namirembe Cathedral, which were followed by various speeches by varied Kingdom officials.

After spending close to three months regrouping, Bobi has now resumed with a bang after resurfacing with new recruits whom he strategically handpicked given their historical ties with the Buganda Kingdom.

The recruited group consists of former Kingdom officials, including councilor Hakim Sawula Kizza also a Minister of Housing at KCCA, Waswa Ndigezza, both former national chairpersons of prominent Nkobazambogo youth association in Buganda Kingdom, and Ssewava Sserubiri, who was an influential figure during a period Minister Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo was a minister in Buganda Kingdom.

Apart from confessing to “stealing Shs70m meant for a particular cultural norm before the King, and vanishing thereafter” during the reconstruction of Kasubi Tombs, Ssewava played a fundamental role in taking a section of Clan chiefs to President Museveni to request for the land from him instead of Kabaka, a renowned Ssabataka, all planned by   Ssebuggwawo.

The renewed plan by Bobi was revealed on October 18th, during a thanksgiving party organized for Muliika in the Lubaga division, which was moved from October 17th to accommodate Ring leader Bobi’s schedule.

Prominent attendees included NUP leaders; Bobi, the Leader of Opposition in Parliament Joel Ssenyonyi who is also the party’s spokesperson, his deputy Alex Mufumbiro,  area MP Abubaker Kawalya, grassroots politicians, councilors, Rubaga division mayor, and school children.

Others included former Ministers in Buganda Kingdom; Israel Mayengo, Florence Bagunywa Nkalubo, and Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago. However, we were unable to explicitly verify whether they are also part of Bobi’s recruits into Bobi’s grand scheme against Buganda Kingdom.

Bobi Speaks

When he took to the podium to deliver his more than 30-minute address, Bobi began by praising Muliika’s “outspokenness”, asserting that he aligns with NUP’s value of speaking truth to power.

“You [Muliika] have done your job, we do not owe you anything…and we urge you to continue doing it because your voice is influential and could be heard by more serious people than mine which can easily be dismissed as ganja man,” Bobi told Muliika, “Nobody can dismiss your comment, and we trust you.”

He went on to flatter him, “you are the most powerful prime minister Buganda has ever had. Therefore, I came expecting to find numerous Honourable men and women from the Buganda Kingdom, wondering which words would fit them. However, here we are. I cannot see them.”

It is unclear whether Buganda Kingdom officials were invited to attend the thanksgiving party, or not.

On finishing his dismay of Kingdom officials, Bobi hastened to pledge their commitment to continue Muliika’s legacy even in “your grave, we shall go ahead with copying you…and we are assuring you that the seed you sow in us, will not die and we will never disappoint you.

He turned to the children, “especially youth, I urge you to be united amid efforts from our enemies and our friends, to disrupt” their mission.

He told them, “the Kingdom has always been used to play wrong politics without imagining the future of Buganda.”

It is on this point that he reported to Muliika that he was attacked for leading a demand for Kabaka’s whereabouts when he fell ill

“Owekitiibwa Muliika, when the King was away in Namibia, I was doing the right thing of calling upon people to demand his whereabouts, but the Buganda officials branded us Buganda enemies. In this era, I am the Ben Kiwanuka who was betrayed.” Bobi said.

On 31st July 2024 while celebrating 31 years on the throne, the King rebuked clan chiefs and politicians, including Bobi, for staging disrespecting online, and physical protests at Namibian embassies in varied countries disguised as love for the King. He ordered subjects to disassociate from disruptive individuals.

Vicious Attacks on CBS

Bobi relaunched his vicious verbal attacks on King’s CBS radio, claiming deliberate media coverage denial.

“There is also an effort by our enemies to deny all our people media coverage…it is deliberate, but be firm and it’s not surprising that even on CBS which was built by my forefather you cannot hear me hosted or our allies including Dan Muliika,” Bobi said on October 18th, 2024.

Barely a week after Muliika’s thanksgiving, Bobi struck CBS on October 21, 2024, during a party’s press conference at Makerere-Kavule.

“CBS was built by my forefather; if they don’t host me, it’s propaganda radio,” Bobi said.

Names His Buddies, Wife Baganda

While at Muliika’s party, Bobi announced Nubian Li from the Nubian community, Lewis Rubongoya (Ankole) Waiswa Mufumbiro (Busoga), and Barbie Itungo (Ankole) as Baganda, emphasizing Buganda is a nation, not a tribe. He also rebuked those describing LoP Joel Ssenyonyi as a Muluuli.

“I also want to tell you that Buganda is not a tribe. Buganda is a nation. Omuganda is seen from his/her behaviors. King Muteesa had his friend Daudi Ocheng who had emerged as a Muganda because of his behavior and friendship with King Muteesa. King Mutebi appointed Muhamood Toban, an Indian as a Minister, he also became a Muganda.” Bobi said.

In typical mimicking of the King, Bobi said, “In the same line, I also have my buddies; [Waiswa] Mufumbiro, [Lewis] Rubongoya, Nubian Li, Barbie Itungo, I am announcing to be Baganda. It has not been started by me, but the Kings.”

Still, on July 31st, the King asserted that in the known cultural values and norms, the Kabaka is at liberty to either “create or veto certain norms depending on the situations in a given generation.”

Bobi Gifting Muliika With An Undermining Portrait

To further strengthen his point, Bobi gifted the former Katikkiro Muliika, an artistic portrait of Muliika, and the King, to imply he recognizes the former as the office bearer, not the serving Katikkiro.

Muliika Speaks

When Muliika spoke for about 18 minutes, he emphasized the importance of unity, collaboration,

“Everyone here has a responsibility to work for this nation. We should build a system of collaboration,” he said, highlighting the need for civic education for the children to understand the Kingdom’s cultural norms.

“Civic education should be inculcated to children to understand. If they appoint you the Katikkiro does it mean you are the only understanding person? The Katikkiro in Buganda has a council…” Muliika said.

However, he cautioned Bobi against dictatorship, saying, “you should avoid being a dictator, you should aspire to be a leader.”

He concluded by appreciating the surprise party organizers, revealing, “I have never organized this party. I can only believe that it is God who does all this because he is the one who gave you the thoughts.”

The party organisers, pledged to fundraise and procure a decent car for Muliika. Indeed, the fundraising committee is being chaired by MP Kawalya who was publicly tasked by LoP Ssenyonyi to expeditiously reach out to all NUP MPs to see how they can make their contributions to the cause aimed at “easing Muliika’s movements.”

You can disrupt, but you will never overpower us

During the 31st King’s Coronation at Namirembe Cathedral in July 2024, the Buganda Premier Charles Peter recognized the presence of an orchestrated plan by some individuals to desecrate the monarchy, urging unity among Kingdom lovers to push back.

“These days, we have those errant individuals who are hell-bent on desecrating the monarchy. However, what enabled us to restore our King to the throne was unity. What has enabled us to overcome what seemed unsurmountable challenges to this date has been unity,” he said.

“Let me tell you, it is very difficult to win over the majority when they are united. Throughout 31 years of his reign, the King has welcomed all his people without decriminalization based on tribes or political affiliations…,” he added.

Mayiga urged the people of Buganda to look critically and find remedies for the individuals who desecrate the monarchy.

He thus vowed, “there can be those who want to disrupt us, but they can’t overpower us.”

As Bobi’s scheme is becoming clearer, one thing is clear: the Kingdom’s unity is its greatest strength.
