The Democratic Front (DF) Electoral Commission is set to begin receiving expressions of interest forms from aspiring candidates starting tomorrow, July 11, 2025.

Speaking to journalists at the DF headquarters, Secretary for Mobilization in charge of elections, Henry Lubowa, confirmed that all logistical requirements are in place for the smooth running of the activity.

Lubowa emphasized that the commission is eagerly waiting for over 50 aspiring candidates who have scheduled to return their forms tomorrow. He noted that the activity will kick off at 8:00 AM and continue until 5:00 PM at the party headquarters in Namirembe along Bishop Road.

According to Lubowa, aspiring candidates must bring proof of party membership, proof of payment of nomination fees, and other documentation. He cautioned candidates against bringing gifts to influence the electoral commission members.

The expression of interest fees vary by position: 500,000 shillings for presidential flag bearers, 150,000 shillings for MPs, 100,000 shillings for municipal mayors, and 70,000 shillings for KCCA city councillors.

LC5 councillors, municipal councillors, and LC3 chairpersons will pay 20,000 shillings, while sub-county councillors will pay 10,000 shillings.

Nannyunja Alice, a member of the electoral commission, emphasized the need for candidates to follow guidelines and keep time for smooth execution. The deadline for local government candidates is August 15, while MPs have until August 22 to submit their forms.

The commission is ready to receive forms from aspiring candidates, including those vying for parliamentary and local government positions. Candidates are expected to meet the requirements and adhere to the set timelines.
