DF Receives 35 Aspirants From Butambala District, And Teso Sub-Region

The Democratic Front (DF) has received 35 more aspirants seeking to join leadership on the party’s flag from Butambala district, and Teso sub-region.

The aspirants were nominated at the DF headquarters in Namirembe on August 22, 2025 amid chants, and jubilations from supporters celebrating the hopeful leaders.

Leading the charge from Teso sub-region, was Otala Joseph Ebekulasi, who himself was nominated to contest for the Serere MP seat under the DF banner.

He guided a group of 28 aspirants from the Teso sub-region, all of whom travelled to Kampala to submit their expressions of interest forms and secure their nominations from the DF Electoral Commission.

Among the group from Teso, there were six candidates from his Serere district, which included two aspiring LCIII chairpersons.

Those who traveled from Teso sub-region to Kampala are; Okello Joshua City Councillor  Soroti East Division, Albert Davidson Division Councilor Soroti East, Egadu Pascal LC Aloet Alum B, Emurut Joseph Chairperson III Mukura Sub-county Ngora District Kapiir Constituency, Omongut James Councilor Division Soroti East, Otianna, and Emmanuel PWDs District Councilor Attira Sub-county Serere district.

Other aspirants from Teso sub-region were; Rev. Kato Jude Chairperson III Luweero T/C Katikamu North Constituency, Onyait Richard Emmanuel LCIII Councillor Attira Sub-county Serere District, Elelu Patrick LCIII Chairperson Attira Sub-county, Akello Florence District Woman Councillor Ngora District, and Oluka Joseph LCIII Chairperson Ngora Sub-county, among others.

In remarks following their nominations, Otala expressed his unwavering commitment to fortifying the DF, underscoring the importance of unity, and grassroots empowerment.

“This is not just about candidates; it is about giving the people of Teso a stronger voice. We are determined to restore hope, accountability, and development through effective leadership,” he stated, reflecting the collective spirit of the day.

The aspirants echoed their confidence in the DF, voicing their gratitude towards Otala’s mobilization efforts.

One LC III chairperson aspirant from Serere remarked, “We are proud to stand under DF because it represents the values of transparency, service, and fairness that our communities long for.”

Additionally, a woman councilor aspirant from Soroti painted the unity felt among candidates, stating, “The unity we have witnessed here today gives us confidence that together we can transform the politics of Teso and Uganda as a whole.”

Others expressed their admiration for Otala’s leadership ethos

“Mr. Otala has shown us that leadership means sacrifice and commitment. We are motivated to carry this spirit into the campaigns, and service to the people,” declared another candidate, reinforcing the theme of collaboration and solidarity.

Butambala

From Butambala District, the party welcomed five new aspirants, including Farida Nakiboneka, who is vying for the position of Butambala District Chairperson, and Ssebadduka Sulaiman, who seeks to become the Youth Councilor for Budde Sub-county.

Other aspirants from this district include Yusuf Kafeero for Chairperson of Kibibi Town Council, Hassan Mulungi as Youth Councilor for Kibibi Town Council, and Sadat Tamale as a district councillor from Kibibi.

In the same way, Namusoke Jane Lwamboya has thrown her hat in the ring to become the Woman Councilor for Lubaga-Namungoona II under the DF banner, and, Kasagga Ronald Bazanyanengo was nominated as the aspiring MP for Katikamu North, joining the growing list of candidates committed to the DF’s mission.

The DF prides itself on being a people-centered political party dedicated to accountable leadership, social justice, and inclusive development.

With nominations pouring in from across Uganda, the DF continues to empower citizens at the grassroots level, promoting democracy and creating equal opportunities for all.

As the party builds momentum ahead of the upcoming elections, it remains open to further aspirants from Uganda, encouraging participation in a political journey that aims to bring about real change for the nation.
