Moses Kasibante, the spokesperson for the Democratic Front, officially submitted his expression of interest forms to contest for the mayoral position of Rubaga Division on the party ticket.

This large event took place at the party offices in Namirembe, where an thrilling atmosphere filled the compound as attendees celebrated the return of a well-known figure in national politics.

Kasibante received his nomination from the DF Electoral Commission, led by Henry Lubowa, on September 2, 2025.

Accompanied by prominent Democratic Front leaders such as Samuel Lubega Mukaaku, the National Chairman, Micheal Sseninde, the Secretary General, and Micheal Kakembo, the Party Whip in Parliament and MP for Entebbe Municipality, Kasibante made his way to the nomination table.

Known for his oratory skills, the former Member of Parliament for Rubaga North left a lasting mark in Parliament by passionately voicing the concerns and perspectives of his constituents.

After stepping back from active politics in 2021, he chose to explore the agricultural sector and emerged as a prominent coffee farmer.

With strong connections in both his community and the agricultural sector, Kasibante re-enters the political arena with a refreshing and forward-thinking vision for Rubaga Division.

He expressed a deep connection to his roots, stating that the call from his community had been irresistible.

The people had longed for his return, not only as their MP but as a leader bringing a new perspective.

His commitment to the agricultural sector will play a crucial role in his campaign as he highlights its potential to transform the economy of Buganda.

In a media briefing following his nomination, Kasibante made it clear that he intended to weave agricultural leadership into the fabric of local governance.

He emphasized that Buganda’s economic transformation is tightly linked to agriculture, pointing out that urban residents could facilitate funding for agricultural ventures in their ancestral homes.

Kasibante proposed a bold initiative to transform land at the Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II Mengo Palace into a coffee farming project, aiming to set an example for sustainable farming practices.

He stressed that the economic viability of Buganda today is largely rooted in coffee production and envisioned asking the King for permission to plant coffee within Nabagereka’s banana plantation at the Mengo Palace, illustrating how such projects could connect urban dwellers with their rural heritage.

He articulated a vision that extended beyond Rubaga Division, asserting that his role as mayor should benefit all of Uganda.

His approach underscores the importance of cultivating substantial agricultural expertise within Kampala as a means of activating local resources for the community’s broader benefit.

In a rallying call for proactive leadership, he invited his constituents to come together early for effective governance, encouraging them to show leadership in anticipation of the upcoming election.

While acknowledging that the election was still some time away, he assured the people of Rubaga Division that it was essential to take action now and unite around a shared vision for progress.

Confronting potential rivals directly, he suggested that they should take their remaining time to learn the principles of true leadership.

With his nomination, Kasibante not only rejuvenates his political journey but also reinforces the Democratic Front’s commitment to cultivating capable leaders ready to drive transformative change in the region.
