The former Arua Municipality MP Kassiano Wadri has finally set the record straight on the widely circulated claim that he owed his victory to Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, the leader of the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP).
Speaking in a recent interview, Wadri, a member of the opposition Alliance for National Transition (ANT), dropped a bombshell that has left many in the political arena stunned.
“The Hon. Kyagulanyi joined me on a Sunday evening at a rally Varradi,” Kassiano recounted, “but I want to tell this without any fear of contradiction, the Hon. Kyagulanyi did not come to Arua originally to support me.”
This revelation is a far cry from the narrative that has been peddled by Bobi Wine and his supporters, claiming that he was the mastermind behind Kassiano’s victory.
But what really happened?
According to Wadri, Bobi Wine’s original plan was not to support him, but rather Robert Ejiku, another candidate in the Arua municipality by-election. However, upon realizing that Ejiku was weak, Bobi Wine quickly switched camps and joined Kassiano’s campaign team. But there’s a catch-Wadri reveals that Bobi Wine was paid Shs6m through Alaka and Company Advocates to join his campaign.
“He [Bobi Wine] came to support Robert Ejiku. I am saying this on an international media. He was even facilitated to come and the money was given to him through Caleb Alaka, Shs6m for his fuel,” Wadri revealed.
This shocking twist raises serious questions about Bobi Wine’s motivations and leadership style. Was he genuinely interested in supporting Wadri, or was he driven by financial gain?
Wadri’s revelations suggest that Bobi Wine’s involvement was not as self-sacrificing as he had claimed.
Wadri’s decision to come clean about the events surrounding his election has significant implications. For one, it exposes the myth that Bobi Wine was the driving force behind his victory. Instead, it appears that Wadri’s own popularity and grassroots support were the key factors in his success.
Furthermore, Wadri’s revelations highlight the dangers of unrealistic leadership based on stardom. Bobi Wine’s celebrity status and charismatic persona may have won him fans, but they do not necessarily translate to effective leadership.
In the end, Wadri’s courage in speaking the truth has laid bare the facts. Bobi Wine’s claims of being the mastermind behind Wadri’s victory have been exposed as nothing more than a myth.
