Bad-intentioned Speculations End As Kabaka Returns Home Safe And Sound
The return of Kabaka (King) Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II to his Kingdom has brought an end to months of largely bad-intentioned speculation and ‘worry’ among some of his subjects.
Attired in a grey suit with a matching gold and grey necktie on a white shirt, a jovial and visibly energetic Kabaka was received at Entebbe International Airport by a delegation led by Katikkiro (Prime Minister) Charles Peter Mayiga, Monday Morning.
Kabaka’s royal family led Nabagereka Sylvia Nagginda, in the accompaniment of Prince Jjunju Kiweewa, Nnaalinnya Lubuga Agnes Nabaloga, and Nnaalinnya Victoria Nkinzi, was available to welcome Kabaka back home.
The Ethiopian Airlines flight ET338 from Addis touched down at Entebbe airport ten minutes in the dew of midnight and his return was met with joy for one outstanding reason-the genuine enthusiastic subjects are now reassured of his health.
Despite sequential updates about the King’s status by Buganda Kingdom chiefs led by Katikkiro Mayiga, there has been a sustained negative narrative by a section of people including prominent especially opposition politicians using both social and some mainstream media platforms with unclear, bad intentions.
Clear and reasonable requests for King’s privacy by reasonable people both in Buganda and mainstream politics notwithstanding, bad-intentioned persons could amplify their ablaze, especially on social media with weird theories about King’s whereabouts, prompting Katikkiro’s latest strong warning to what he termed as “sheer enemies of Buganda, wishing to toss Kabaka as a football to achieve political scores.”
The Kabaka’s absence had led to a diplomatic embarrassment in his place of recuperation in Namibia, but his safe return has put an end to all ill-intentioned speculations. The kingdom had dispelled rumors that the King had been “poisoned and kidnapped” and instead emphasized the need to respect his privacy.
Not even his televised speech around a fortnight ago, could help shut the mouths of bad-intentioned people, but only to intensified wild-fire-like speculations to further complicate the diplomatic relations between Namibia and Uganda. However, Kabaka’s safe return has put all those bad-intentioned speculations to rest.
As the King settled back home, the royal family which was represented by Prince Jjunju, expressed gratitude to all the people who stood with them during the absence of Kabaka. They appreciated the efforts of all Kingdom officials who worked hard to safeguard the King’s life and maintain the works of the Kingdom.
The family also extended their gratitude to the governments of Namibia and Uganda for working together to ensure the safety of their father. However, they expressed dissatisfaction with those who “deliberately” misbehaved by threatening the hosting country where their father was receiving medication.
The royal family thus asked the public to maintain patience as the Kabaka fully recovers, while also respecting his “right to privacy.”
