Museveni Makes A Major RDC Reshuffle

In a surprise move, President Yoweri Museveni has reshuffled the Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), Resident City Commissioners (RCCs), and Deputies in a bid to strengthen regional administration. On Monday afternoon, the President took to his X account to announce the changes, citing his powers under Articles 99 and 203 of the Constitution.

“In exercise of the powers conferred upon the President of the Republic of Uganda by Article[s] 99 and 203 of the 1995 Constitution [as amended]; I hereby, appoint the following persons as Resident District/City Commissioners, Deputies, and Commissioners at the RDC Secretariat,” the President wrote.

The reshuffle saw the appointment of 10 new officials to various regions, with Maj. Martha Asimwe taking the helm as head of the RDC Secretariat. SR. Grace Akiror was named as her deputy, while former Gomba woman MP Nakato Kyabangi was appointed to oversee Central Buganda.

Other notable changes included Fredrick Mbagadi Nkayi, who will now head the Kampala metropolitan region, and Fred Bamwine, who has been reassigned to the Karamoja region. Additionally, Collins Gertrude Obedi will oversee West Nile, Col. Oguli Damuzungu Aggrey will head the Eastern region and Rt. Col. Mwesigye K. James will take charge of the Western region.

The reshuffle also saw Dr. James Tweheyo appointed to lead the Rwenzori region and Akello Alice Apiyo taking the reins in the Northern Region. The changes, which took effect on August 16th, aim to enhance regional administration and development.
